Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville’s William Michael Morgan is as much a fun-loving country boy as he is an old soul with his admiration for a timeless sound and authentic lyric. In his brand new song “Brokenhearted,” penned by Rhett Akins, J.T. Harding and Marv Green, the 25-year-old is keeping country music honest (listen HERE). Watch him sing about both good times and bad in the cleverly reflective, mid-tempo tune HERE. The video, directed by Colin Duffy, is the second in a series of linked visuals for his continuing collection of new music.
“Country music is changing, the world is changing,” Morgan said. “Everybody is having a good time at their bonfires and, trust me, I love a bonfire and the whole idea of cold beers flowing, girls on the tailgate. But people also work, people have real lives and go through bad times. The whole message of the song is, ‘Ain’t nobody brokenhearted in country music anymore?’”
The chart-topping singer / songwriter offered his first taste of brand new music two weeks ago with “Tonight Girl” (listenHERE). Taste of Country described “velvety-smooth vocals” that “stay with the listener” and “hand-snapped rhythms and throwback feel [that] put him in a league of his own.” MusicRow similarly applauded the track, declaring, “Whatever it is, the warmth, intimacy and sensuousness of his vocal performance is center stage. The man can sure ‘nuff sing.” “Tonight Girl” has already been featured on top playlists across many streaming platforms, including Spotify’s New Boots and Next From Nashville, Apple Music’s Breaking Country and Best of the Week and Pandora’s New Country Now. Check out the track’s accompanying video HERE.
Morgan’s latest music builds on an already distinguished career – one that is only just beginning. In just three years, he has earned a No. 1 single with his Gold-certified debut, “I Met A Girl.” The “laid-back ode to the joy of romantic discovery” (Rolling Stone) was named one of NPR Music’s Top 100 Songs of 2016 and paved the way for his album Vinyl to debut Top 5 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, earning widespread critical acclaim in the process. Pandora described him as having a voice that “resonates with the flawless timbre of someone who has been singing country music for decades beyond his years.”
One of the 2017 CRS New Faces of Country Music, Morgan has already accumulated more than 75 million on-demand streams. He recently wrapped a summer of fair and festival performances across the nation, and he will continue touring with select dates through the end of the year.
