Warner Music Nashville / Warner Bros. Records rising star MORGAN EVANS is putting a sun-kissed new spin on his chart-climbing single “Day Drunk.” A live acoustic version of the track is available today as part of the Highway 1 Sessions video series.
Filmed on the beach, waves crash underneath the clear blue sky in the “Day Drunk” live acoustic video as Evans plays guitar to accompany the fun-loving lyrics. The Australia native’s laid-back vibe shines through in the clip; shades-on and sipping a beer with toes in the sand.

Penned by Evans, Chris DeStefano and Lindy Robbins, the “summery slam-dunk” (Rolling Stone) is closing in on Top 40 at Country Radio. Praised as “bright as sunshine” (MusicRow) the track caught fire Down Under, spending 23 consecutive weeks – and counting – at #1 on the TMN Country Airplay chart. A noteworthy feat for a Country artist, “Day Drunk” spent 2 weeks at #1 on Australian pop radio after hitting the top of the TMN Hot 100 airplay chart.
No stranger to chart-topping hits, Evans recently threw a full-on fiesta to celebrate his first #1 song in the U.S., “Kiss Somebody.” Adding to the success of his debut single, the singer/songwriter was surprised with a plaque to commemorate the track’s RIAA GOLD certification. “Kiss Somebody,” “Day Drunk,” and the songs included in the Highway 1 Sessions are featured on Evans’ debut album, THINGS THAT WE DRINK TO, which landed in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
The Highway 1 Sessions are a collection of moments captured on-camera, inspired by Evans’ passion for music, adventure and the outdoors. With a few days off between shows, he headed to the shoreline with just a guitar, a few friends and an open agenda. Check out the series' previous videos, as well as the stories behind the songs, now live on Evans’ YouTube channel.
Gearing up for another jam-packed weekend on the road, Evans will take over Billboard’s Instagram Stories Thursday (1/24) as he performs in Bemidji, MN, as part of Old Dominion’s MAKE IT SWEET TOUR. Follow along here. Joining the band for back-to-back nights, he will also head to Brookings, SD (1/25), before a headline show at the Grizzly Rose in Denver, CO, on Saturday (1/26).
