Warner Music Nashville is excited to announce the signing of rising country band BEXAR, whose major-label debut single “Again” is available everywhere today (LISTEN HERE). Pronounced ‘bear,’ the group gets its name from Bexar County, Texas, where lead vocalist/guitarist Chris Ryan spent a good part of his childhood. He’s joined by Kentucky native and vocal/banjo/guitar master Logan Turner, having first met in one of Nashville’s anonymous writing rooms during CMA Fest. But their shared desire to create something new and original quickly moved them beyond as they bonded over a love of bands like Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers.
“When two worlds collide like this, you can start creating something special,” Ryan says of their emerging group. “I want people to feel about our music the way I felt about music when I first fell in love with it,” adds Turner. “That it takes you somewhere – a place that nothing else in the world can take you to.”
The first new music released from their time spent in the studio with award-winning producer Ross Copperman (Keith Urban, Brett Eldredge, Dierks Bentley), “Again” showcases BEXAR’s fresh and expressive sound. Co-written by Copperman, “Again” centers on the notion that even if they could do life over, they’d do it all the same. “It’s about being unapologetically you,” Ryan explains. “At the end of the day, there’s always things that you wish you could go back and do differently,” Turner adds. “but even with mistakes, you learn from them and move forward.”
Mixing Ryan’s gift for meticulous storytelling and Turner’s natural musical dexterity, BEXAR reintroduces country to the pop potential of wooden instruments and organic soul. Together, the songsmiths are forging country tradition into something new and exciting. Having self-released their eponymous debut EP in 2018, BEXAR has accumulated over 25 million streams to date and plan to release more brand-new music throughout the year.
