NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (February 1, 2018) – Rising Country sensation TEGAN MARIE illuminated the Big Apple this week with a dazzling performance of her new song “Keep It Lit” on NBC’s TODAY with Kathie Lee and Hoda, a SOLD-OUT debut NYC concert in The Studio at Opry City Stage and a live acoustic performance atop the iconic Empire State Building. After a whirlwind few days, the 14-year-old showcased why she was named to several high-profile emerging artist lists this year including BillboardRolling Stone and HuffPost

Kick starting her New York City takeover, Tegan Marie lit up the Empire State Building while performing and filming an acoustic video – in partnership with Sweety High and Radio Disney Country – for the upbeat tune on Tuesday night (1/30). The next morning (1/31) she stopped by TODAY to chat with co-hosts Kathie Lee and Hoda about her love for songwriting and early start in the music business, capping off the appearance with a lively performance of “Keep It Lit.”

Tegan Marie packed the house at her debut NYC headlining show in The Studio at Opry City Stage in Times Square. Displaying her powerful voice and infectious personality, she treated fans to “Keep It Lit” and new originals she co-wrote including “Smash My Guitar,” “I Don’t Know What Is” and “How To Make A Boy Cry” alongside her jaw-dropping covers of Florida Georgia Line’s “H.O.L.Y.,” John Mellencamp’s “Pink Houses” and Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic.”

About Tegan Marie:

With a larger-than-life voice, media and fans alike have already taken notice of the rising star’s talent after being first discovered by leading Gen Z girls’ media company Sweety High when her father uploaded videos of her cover songs. Landing on several high-profile emerging artist lists, Rolling Stone just named her as one of the “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know” while HuffPost and Billboard featured her in their 2018 Country Artists to Watch lists.  Billboard praises, “...few have the stage presence, songwriting skills and overall show business moxie as this Michigan native...” and HuffPost adds, “Tegan Marie is primed to be country music’s first Gen Z star.”

Also a Radio Disney Country artist, she has catapulted into the national spotlight with several high-profile media performances and appearances including ABC’s Good Morning America  and PBS’ star-studded special Smokey Robinson: The Gershwin Prize and the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards. First releasing the song “Lucky Me” to benefit the children affected by the water crisis in her hometown of Detroit, the momentum continued with her breathtaking rendition of Florida Georgia Line’s #1 hit song, “H.O.L.Y.,” racking up over 17 million views on Facebook. In 2017 alone, Tegan garnered over 100 million video views, had 270 million social engagements and gained two million social followers. She’s also had a string of coveted opening slots, sharing the stage with artists such as Cam, Hunter Hayes and Kelsea Ballerini. This past spring Tegan presented at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards, appeared at CMA Music Festival on the Radio Disney Country stage and at California’s popular Country music festival Stagecoach to great acclaim. Critics praised her performance with USA TODAY hailing, “[Tegan] Marie has the personality and the voice of a future star, and she definitely has the always hard-to-define ‘It.’” Last summer she partnered with Pepsi MidAmerica for a six-city tour and is currently working on her debut album for Warner Music Nashville.
