Hayes Featured as Spotify’s Hot Country Cover Artist
Country superstar and Five-time GRAMMY nominee Hunter Hayes demonstrates the best of his widely praised musicianship and characteristic innovation in his brand newSpotify Sessions, available now (LISTEN HERE). He crafted his version of Charlie Puth’s massive pop smash “Attention” and a retooling of his own recently released track “Dear God” at Woodshed Recording in Malibu. In addition to providing lead vocals and electric guitar, Hayes served as producer for the session.
In just over a month since its release, “Dear God” has accumulated nearly six million streams on Spotify alone and is currently the focus of their Hot Country cover story. Rolling Stone declared the song “epical and ethereal,” dubbing it an “anthem for the anxious.” Penned alongside Andy Grammer and Dave Spencer, the lyrics tackle a universally relatable experience: struggling with self-doubt; As Taste of Country said, “Leave it to Hunter Hayes to release a song that speaks the truth.” The multi-instrumentalist also shared a mini-documentary chronicling his writing and recording process in the studio (WATCH HERE) along with the official music video (WATCH HERE) that premiered across multiple Viacom music channels including CMT, CMT Music, MTV Live and MTVU.
Last week Hayes revealed his more mischievous side in brand new track “One Shot” (LISTEN HERE). Billboardcalled the “feel-good-about-feeling-bad” song “highly relatable…with the uplifting, hopeful tone that’s a signature of his music.” Simply put: “It’s so, so real” (Just Jared Jr.). The multi-platinum-selling artist released a one-take vertical video exclusively to Spotify that follows country superstar on a stroll through downtown Nashville (WATCH HERE). “One Shot” appeared on the Hot Country, New Boots, Pop Co and New Music Friday playlists in nine different countries, with the music streaming service giving the track its very own billboard in the heart of Times Square. Hayes has also rolled out a “To Tell The Truth” style drinking game, #NoFilter, in which he takes turns with special guests to determine each other’s statements true or false. With multiple sales certifications, more than 750 million on-demand streams and three chart-topping singles, Hayes shows in this latest release that he continually evolves.
