Hailing from a country where there’s more sand than snow at Christmastime, Australian-born country star Morgan Evans has released his first-ever original holiday song, “Christmas In The Sun” (LISTEN HERE). Written by Evans alongside Jimmy Robbins and Parker Welling, the beachy tune exudes the kind of warmth and joy that makes this holiday so special worldwide.
“Growing up in Australia all I knew was Christmas in the sun,” Evans explained. “Sure, we sang all the American Christmas songs and watched all the American Christmas movies but in reality, we were hanging by the beach or the pool, cooking outside on the barbie and enjoying the heat of summer! I’ve missed home a lot the last couple of years and this song, to me, sounds like Christmas in Australia.”
The release follows his brand-new EP, The Country and the Coast: Side A (LISTEN HERE); a collection of songs produced by Robbins and Grammy nominated producer Dan Huff. After years of touring as a solo artist and a loop pedal, Evans returned to his roots on this project by building his sound around a full band experience. The EP features his current single, “Love Is Real,” which is climbing the US airplay charts now after spending nine consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Australian country radio.
Earlier this month, the Warner Music Nashville recording artist was announced as the headliner of Australia's biggest country festival, CMC Rocks 2022. The15th anniversary show will serve as a homecoming performance for Evans, who was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. The festival will run Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25 in Willowbank, Ipswich, and the full line-up will be announced in early 2022. Evans recently wrapped up Brett Eldredge’s Good Day Tour and will be joining Brad Paisley for his seven-date European trek next July,
A rising international star, Evans has earned nearly 610 million global career streams to date and in 2020 was selected as one of Country Radio Seminar’s elite New Faces of Country Music. His debut single, “Kiss Somebody,” topped the US charts and fan favorite track “Day Drunk” spent 25 weeks at No. 1 in Australia. Both tracks are featured on his critically lauded debut album, Things That We Drink To, which was awarded Best Country Album at Australia’s ARIA Music Awards. Along with releasing new music and performing across the country, Evans has been sharing his global perspective on country music and showcasing performers from around the world as the host of Country Wide Radio on Apple Music.
