Critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter Madeline Edwards has signed a worldwide label deal with Warner Music Nashville and will officially release her debut album, Crashlanded, on November 4th (PRE-ORDER/SAVE). Edwards revealed the 12-song album’s title, official track-listing, and album cover via an exclusive with Billboard this morning.
In an interview with Billboard, Cris Lacy (Co-President, Warner Music Nashville) shared “Our team first met Madeline over Zoom and had no idea then what a force of nature and musical powerhouse she would be when we finally saw her in front of a crowd. Her depth of character and her unique perspective is exactly what our genre needs right now.”
Ben Kline (Co-President, Warner Music Nashville) also added, “Madeline is one of the most undeniable talents we've ever had the privilege of working with. I’m happy to welcome her into our label family and help amplify this incredible body of work.”
“This particular album may have been in the works over the last couple years, but for me to get to this point and put out this kind of body of work has taken almost a lifetime. I’m very excited for everyone to hear the stories, the musical influences, the time and the experience that has brought me to this moment. Crashlanded feels like my child,” shared Edwards. “I’m very excited for this new venture with Warner and having a partner coming alongside that respects and sees my vision for the music. We’re about to go to the moon and it feels surreal.”
In celebration of the news, Edwards also released a new track, “Too Much Of A Good Thing” (LISTEN HERE), along with a companion video (WATCH HERE) featuring behind-the-scenes footage of her friends, family, band, and crew all in fly-on-the-wall moments from the last few months. Inspired to write the song the evening she found out she was selected to go on tour with Chris Stapleton this past Summer, Edwards noted, “I wrote with two incredible writers in Nashville-Ian Christian and Trannie Anderson, the day after I found out…this song is everything I have felt …and how grateful I feel for all of it.”
Since breaking onto the scene on the CMA Award Stage a year ago, Edwards’ remarkable rise and noteworthy impression has led to performances on some of the genre’s biggest stages and inclusions on Spotify's “Hot Country Artists to Watch,” CMT’s “Next Women of Country,” as well as her selection as a Top 20 Breaker artist on NPR. Her Opry debut earlier this year was lauded as one of the “best of all time” (Country Living) and she was recently selected as Billboard’s August Rookie Of The Monthand an Apple Music August Country Riser. Additionally, her music has garnered additional raves from Billboard, Southern Living, American Songwriter, CMT, NPR and more. In a recent profile in The Tennessean, Edwards was noted for “cresting a fast-rising wave of acclaim and claiming her place as a thoughtful singer-songwriter in country's mainstream.” (The Tennessean).
Noted for her unique ability to transcend musical boundaries and blend of jazz, soul, gospel and country music, Edwards has to date garnered nearly 15 million collective streams. Her initial five song EP was released in June 2022 and featured Edwards’ “captivating” (Music Row) single “Port City” where “Edwards lends her pure siren of a voice to a retelling of her own journey to Nashville” as well as “Hold My Horses,” “Why I’m Calling,” “Heart You Can’t Break,” and “The Road.” In addition to opening for Chris Stapleton’s “All American Road Show” this Summer, Edwards brought her show to SXSW as one of Rolling Stone’s Best of and performed at Long Road Festival in UK, Moon River Festival and Americana Fest.
