Country music disruptor Gavin Adcock is actin’ up again, and this time it’s in the form of a rollicking 16-track album, available now. On Friday, the rowdy singer-songwriter debuted his new project Actin’ Up Again via Thrivin Here Records LLC under exclusive license to Warner Music Nashville.

“When I started making music, I saw an opening for harder songwriting, because country had been going pop. I want it to be more real, with its instruments and vocals,” Adcock said. “I’m trying to fight that fight — I’m not your normal country singer.” He added, “I want to change country music, but I’m not changing me.”

Adcock brought that vision to life with Actin’ Up Again through lived-in lyricism and instrumentation that ranges from steel guitar to guitar shreds. The project’s throughline is unwavering authenticity. Adcock had a hand in writing every song on the record, and each one unfolds as if he’s telling a story from the next barstool over with easy-listening vocals roughed up by a southern growl and a bit of raucous. From tales of lost loves to one-night stands to small-town life, each track maintains Adcock’s trademark unapologetic approach and is without a doubt meant to be blared through the truck speakers.

True to form, Adcock made some major noise to celebrate the release of Actin’ Up Again. He first debuted a mural in downtown Nashville in honor of the project. To celebrate the album going live on Thursday night at 11pm CST, the singer surprised the crowd at Nashville’s Losers Bar & Grill, bought the bar a round of shots and then brought a fiery performance. On Friday, Adcock took over the famed Flora-Bama where he performed a hellraising surprise set for a packed room of fans. The celebrations will continue tonight as he returns to the Grand Ole Opry stage.

Since November 2023, Adcock has consistently rolled out songs from the album including “A Cigarette,” which has now surpassed over 70 million US on-demand streams and over 500k unit equivalents. Last Wednesday, Adcock debuted “Run Your Mouth,” which Billboard praised, noting it “conveys the embedded musical influence of Southern rock, as he growls and seethes his way through this moody, musical warning.”

Since he first began releasing music in 2021, the Georgia native, son of a steer trader, and former Georgia Southern University football player has barreled his way into country music. In those few short years, Adcock has built a devoted and rowdy young audience drawn to his no-filter songwriting and work-hard, play-hard persona.

Adcock brought his wild and unpredictable live performance to towns across the country as part of Jason Aldean and Kid Rock’s Rock the Country Tour this summer. Now, he’s gearing up to headline the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour through the fall. Adcock is the latest breakout star to join the esteemed class of Outbreak headliners, which previously included Morgan Wallen, Kane Brown, and Cole Swindell. With most of the dates sold out already, the tour will kick off in Athens, GA on August 23.
