Raises Over $12,000 for Those Affected by West Coast Wildfires
Atlantic Records/Warner Music Nashville recording artist Devin Dawson wrapped his “California Smoke” tour last week, raising $12,463 for the California Fire Foundation. The headlining run spanned six dates in six different cities and featured a local artist as the opener each night. The tour was personal for the “Dark Horse” singer not only as a Nor-Cal native, but with two members of his family serving as California firefighters – his grandfather for 25 years, and his uncle for 35 years. A check was presented to the Foundation at the final stop in Chico, which will aid them in providing emotional and financial assistance to firefighters, their families and the communities they protect.
“Having the opportunity to get back and give back to my home state in this way was very meaningful to me,” said Dawson. “Big props to my Dark Horse Family members who, from all over the country, donated VIP experiences and tickets to folks affected by the wildfires so they could come to my show for free. It was awesome to support a shared cause, have a fun night and forget our troubles for a couple hours.”
“We’re grateful to Devin for his support of the California Fire Foundation and our efforts to help those affected by catastrophic fire and natural disaster,” added Brian K. Rice, Chairman of the California Fire Foundation. “His support will help many Californians get through a difficult time and start the process of rebuilding their lives.”
Dawson continues to be a force on the country airplay charts with co-writer credits for the latest hit from Blake Shelton, “God’s Country,” including supplying background vocals as well (LISTEN HERE). He also recently lent his “pleading, blues-rock vocals” (ELLE) to “Matthew’s Daughter,” the new track from Irish “new wave trad” quintet, Beoga (LISTEN HERE). The song was composed by megastar singer/songwriter/producer Ed Sheeran and Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid alongside the quintet, and was produced by Jonny Coffer (Beyoncé, Fall Out Boy, Lykke Li).
Earlier this year, the “Nashville idol” (People) headed overseas for performances at CMC Rocks in Australia and CMA’s “Introducing Nashville” tour series in Tokyo, Japan. Fans can catch Dawson at select tour dates and festivals throughout the summer, including CMA Fest, Windy City Smokeout, Lakefest and more (see all tour dates HERE).
