First Track Released For Brand New #MyTake Series
With overwhelming fan support for his version of “God’s Country,” Atlantic Records/Warner Music Nashville recording artist Devin Dawson has created the #MyTake series, which will showcase his own ‘take’ on songs he wrote or co-wrote previously cut by other artists. The first track in the series, “Truck I Drove in High School,” was featured on Mitchell Tenpenny’s second studio album in 2017 and is available everywhere today (LISTEN HERE).
“I was still reeling from the fans’ response to my version of ‘God’s Country’ – so as I geared up to head back into the studio for my second album, I thought it would be cool to record more songs I’ve written for other artists…but from my perspective,” said Dawson. “MY TAKE is a vehicle to share songs that have been really important to me before releasing new music; it is really inspiring to get back to the songs that I loved that maybe weren’t 100% me at the time. Recording them was freeing and fun and I hope my fans dig MY TAKE on these songs as much as I do.”
Earlier this month, Dawson also took home one of the highly-coveted '10 Songs I Wish I’d Written' awards for Blake Shelton’s latest smash hit “God’s Country,” which he co-wrote alongside Michael Hardy and Jordan Schmidt. The record-breaking anthem and multi-week No. 1 also earned Dawson his first CMA Awardnomination for the 2019 Song of The Year.
The Nor-Cal native will be touring throughout Europe during October, with stops in Norway, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands. This fall, he’ll return to North America for Kip Moore’s Room to Spare: Acoustic Tour (full list of dates below).
