2x GRAMMY winners and reigning 2x CMA Award Duo of the Year Dan + Shay closed out an incredible year of achievements tonight by adding three American Music Awards to their tally. As the evening’s most most-nominated country act, the duo won each of their categories: Favorite Duo or Group – Country, Favorite Song – Country and Collaboration of the Year for “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber. With the latter win, Dan + Shay became the first ever country artists to take home the all-genre Collaboration title.

“Wow, this is absolutely incredible,” Shay Mooney said upon receiving the award for Favorite Song – Country. “Thank you guys so much, this is a huge honor. Thank you to our wives… our team, my two little boys. To the Nashville songwriting community, thank you guys so much for inspiring us every single day. There are so many great songs written in Nashville every day and we know that. So the fact that you chose our song means the absolute world to us. To country radio, thank you for playing our music.”

Added Dan Smyers: “This has been the toughest year ever [because] we haven’t been able to be together in person… But I just wanted to say, music has such an incredible power to unify us. Music has power to change lives, to save the world. So to all of our fellow artists and nominees, everybody creating art at home: thank you for doing what you do. And the fans – everybody up there [or] watching at home, thank you for everything.”

Tonight’s wins add to the duo’s two previous American Music Awards for a total of five. In addition to their consecutive AMA, CMA and GRAMMY Awards, they are also the reigning ACM Duo of the Year (2x), CMT Duo Video of the Year (3x), Billboard Top Country Duo Group (2x) and more. The massive global smash “10,000 Hours” had previously earned several accolades for Top Country Song (Billboard Music Awards) and Best Lyrics (iHeartRadio Music Awards).

Recently surpassing 500 million streams on Spotify alone, “10,000 Hours” has earned more than 1.3 billion global streams to date and boasts the biggest first-week streaming total in country music history. It was the first song by a country duo or group ever to debut in the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 5 and spent 21 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs (fourth longest run in chart history). The worldwide smash has achieved 2x Platinum certification in Australia and Canada, Platinum certification in the Netherlands, and Gold certification in four other countries.

The duo also took to the AMA stage to perform their current single “I Should Probably Go To Bed.” The song “ripe for arena sing-alongs” (Billboard) has surpassed 125 million global streams and garnered the duo’s highest first-week equivalents for a duo-only release. It reached No.1 on the Country Digital Songs Sales chart upon release and is now approaching Top 5 at country radio. Produced by Smyers and co-written alongside Mooney, the track’s music video took home the CMT Award for Duo Video of the Year (WATCH HERE).

As “I Should Probably Go To Bed” continues to rise, Dan + Shay are sharing the holiday spirit in their recently released tracks “Christmas Isn’t Christmas” (LISTEN HERE) and “Take Me Home For Christmas” (LISTEN HERE). The duo also released a heartwarming, family-filled music video alongside director Patrick Tracy for the latter tune (WATCH HERE). They will bring the new holiday tracks to several TV stages in the coming month, including ABC’s CMA Country Christmas and NBC’s Christmas In Rockefeller Center.

With more than 6.5 billion career streams, Dan + Shay have garnered more than two dozen GRAMMY, ACM, American Music, Billboard Music, CMA and CMT Award wins and nominations. The duo took home a second consecutive GRAMMY for Best Country Duo/Group Performance earlier this year (2020 – “Speechless,” 2019 – “Tequila”). Their Platinum-certified self-titled album included global hit “Tequila" (5x Platinum), multi-format hit “Speechless” (4x Platinum), and No.1 country song “All To Myself" (2x Platinum). In the seven years since they formed, Dan + Shay have accumulated 32 total RIAA certifications and achieved seven No. 1 singles at country radio.
