“Speechless” Receives GRAMMY Nominations for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, Best Country Song
New “10,000 HOURS” (Piano) Coming this Wednesday, November 27
Hot on the heels of their CMA Award win and their double GRAMMY nominations, Dan + Shay once again have reason to celebrate after earning their first pair of American Music Awards. The record-breaking artists, who hit the stage as presenters at Sunday night’s ceremony, took home the trophies for Favorite Song – Country for their 3x Platinum No. 1 hit “Speechless” and Favorite Duo or Group – Country.
“This award means so much to us and our co-writers Jordan Reynolds and Laura Veltz,” Dan Smyers said upon accepting the Favorite Song – Country trophy. “We’re so proud to be a part of the country music community. Thank you to country radio for playing our songs, to Nashville [for] supporting us [and] helping us make our dreams come true. And you guys most importantly, each and every one of you, the fans – we could not do this without you. Thank you to our fans for having our backs since day one.”
Added Shay Mooney: “Shout out to Dan, one of the most talented people on planet Earth. Thank you for doing this with me.”
The recognition has continued for Dan + Shay’s “Speechless,” which just last week received GRAMMY nominations for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance. The duo took home their first GRAMMY trophy in February of this year, winning Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Tequila.” The firsts continued this year with Dan + Shay landing their first-ever CMA award for Duo of the Year at the 53rdCMA Awards.
Dan + Shay’s Platinum-certified self-titled album produced award-winning hits “Speechless” and the 4x Platinum global smash “Tequila,” and their newest music is following suit. “10,000 Hours,” their collaboration with pop superstar Justin Bieber, is currently Top 15 at country, hot AC and pop radio with nearly 400 million on-demand streams worldwide. The song marks the biggest first-week streaming total in country music history and has already earned Gold certification in Australia and New Zealand and Platinum certification in Canada. This Wednesday, November 27 at 12:00am/11:00c the duo will drop a special piano version of the viral hit. Click HERE to pre-save.
In the seven years since they formed, Dan + Shay have amassed four billion streams globally, accumulated 18 total RIAA Platinum and Gold certifications and achieved six No. 1 singles at country radio. They took home their first-ever GRAMMY earlier this year and followed the honor by becoming the most-awarded artist at the ACM Awards before going on to earn CMA, CMT Music, Billboard Music, Teen Choice – effectively sweeping the country categories – and American Music Awards. Having recently wrapped a run in Australia with Shawn Mendes, the duo will hit the road in 2020 with their first-ever headlining arena tour that includes an already sold-out show at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
