DAN + SHAY SET TO PERFORM ON THE 2019 BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS
Four-Week No. 1 Country Song “Speechless” Impacts Top 40 Today
GRAMMY and three-time ACM Award winners Dan + Shay (Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney) are set to perform “Speechless” on the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday, May 1. With seven nominations, including Top Duo / Group alongside Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, BTS and Panic! At The Disco, Dan + Shay are the most-nominated country artist. The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1 at 8 p.m. ET / delayed PT on NBC.
“Speechless,” a four-week No. 1 country single, impacts Top 40 radio today and sits at No. 14 on the Hot AC Chart. The Double Platinum-certified single has sold more than 2.1 million track equivalents and has racked up nearly 300 million streams. It was the fifth most-streamed country song released in 2018 behind the duo’s own viral hit “Tequila” at No. 1. Together the two mega-smashes made Dan + Shay the only duo ever to hold the top two spots on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart simultaneously for eight consecutive weeks.
The hit-making pair exploded internationally this past year with the release of “Tequila,” which has topped charts across the world and earned nearly 700 million streams globally. With more than 3.5 million track equivalents sold (RIAA 3x Platinum), “Tequila” recently earned Dan + Shay ACM wins for Best Country Duo, Song and Single of the Year in addition to a GRAMMY Award for Best Country Duo / Group Performance. Their current single “All To Myself” is following suit as it climbs the charts at country radio and already approaches 75 million streams.
Dan + Shay just wrapped their headlining tour this past weekend after a sold-out conclusion in Canada. The tour earned widespread praise, with the Star Tribune describing Mooney’s vocals in Minneapolis as “a luxe tenor, the prettiest male voice in Nashville since Vince Gill” and their harmonies “an alluring blend.” In June they’ll bring the critically acclaimed show to Florida Georgia Line’s “Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour” before joining superstar Shawn Mendes on his self-titled tour in Australia (Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney – tickets available HERE).
