COJO Music / Warner Music Nashville Platinum recording artist Cody Johnson has debuted “The Painter” as the most-added song in the nation at country radio yesterday. Cody launches the song with biggest add date of his career with 73 stations jumping to put the song on air. “The Painter,” written by Benjy Davis, Kat Higgins and Ryan Larkins and produced by Trent Willmon, is the first single off a new coming album due out later this year.
“Beautifully country. Kinda poetic, kinda romantic, kinda stirring, kinda cool. He remains a supreme vocal stylist, and the gently thumping bass undertow gives this all the juice it needs. An instant favorite,” shared Bob Oermann, Nashville’s highly respected authority on country music.
Additional media outlets have praised the song:
“he was able to easily relate the tender lyrics to the kindhearted spirit of his other half.” Country Now
“picked a one-of-a-kind way to say ‘I love you.’ He's also proving to be a skilled marksman, capable of hitting a small cross-section that finds all genders and age groups overlapping.” Taste of Country
“The 36-year-old Texan goes on to praise Brandi for remembering every little moment, including each ‘sunset that she’s ever seen’before heading into the chorus, which treats listeners to the distinctive neo-traditional sound Johnson is known for.” Music Mayhem
“The Painter” is the follow up to Cody’s career-making, double platinum-selling and Grammy winning (“Country Song of The Year”) two-week #1 single “’Til You Can’t” and the Top 5 smash “Human” both included on his Human The Double album (October 2021).
Cody is currently on tour with Luke Combs on his “World Tour” in New Zealand and Australia playing sold-out shows in Parnell, New Zealand and three shows in Brisbane, Australia last week. Up next are back-to-back shows in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as concerts in Adelaide and Perth where the tour will wrap on August 26.
