Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville’s Chris Janson paid homage to Poet’s Award recipient Shel Silverstein at the 11th Annual ACM Honors last night with his typical – and critically praised – Janson flair. Both MusicRow and The Tennessean noted the standing ovations after his harmonica-infused performances of “A Boy Named Sue” and “Cover of the Rolling Stone,” the latter declaring that he “brought down the house with a rocking, charismatic tribute.” Rolling Stone called Janson’s performances the “highlight of the evening,” praising them as “a dynamite showing from a live legacy in the making.”
Janson has also drawn buzz around his Top 20 and climbing single “Fix A Drink,” one of the fastest rising songs on the country airplay chart, from his forthcoming album, Everybody, due September 22. The singer / songwriter and performer is currently on the road for Sam Hunt’s “15 in a 30” Tour as well as his own headlining dates, and he will show off his signature “infectious” (Billboard) energy at Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s “Soul2Soul” Tour in October.
