NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (December 12, 2017) – It’s “quite possibly the most important song to come out of Nashville in years” (CMT) – and radio agrees. Chris Janson’s “Drunk Girl” arrived at country radio today with nearly 60 stations already convinced by the single’s timely and reflective message, making him the most-added male artist on the charts this week. He released a one-shot, bare-bones live music video on Friday to support from outlets including People, Rolling Stone Country and The Tennessean.
“Thanks to everyone for the outpouring of positive love,” said Janson. “From the stories you’ve shared with me in person to the emails to the comments on social media – it’s incredible. ‘Drunk Girl’ is a very special song.”
Even before hitting country radio, “Drunk Girl” had already drawn a visible response from fans and critics alike. The Tennessean proclaimed it “a shoo-in for a song of the year nomination” with its “finely-tuned storytelling, rich with morals and values about how to treat women in their most vulnerable moments.” Sounds Like Nashville declared that “Janson delivers a message for the ages and gives a performance that… we all may be talking about at a future awards show” while Whiskey Riff offered a succinct suggestion: “In a world full of little boys, let’s take a second to let Chris Janson remind us how to be men.”
“Drunk Girl” follows closely behind Janson’s second No. 1 single “Fix A Drink” from his recently released album Everybody. The laid-back tune brought summer into the fall when it hit the top of the charts in November. Widely known for his “crazy harmonica skills” and “riveting stage style” (People), the singer / songwriter and “infectious” (Billboard) performer will take songs both new and old on the road for dates leading into 2018, including his first headlining show at Nashville’s own Ryman Auditorium, before joining Cole Swindell on February 15 to kick off the Reasons To Drink Tour.
