From recording artist to dating coach! Warner Music Nashville’s Cale Dodds takes on a slightly different role in the brand new music video for his current single “I Like Where This Is Going” (watch HERE). Directed by Jeff Venable, the story follows Dodds as he guides a young man to finding his self-confidence in order to score a successful first date. Billboard premiered the video this morning, calling the song an “infectious tune [that] highlights Dodds’ warm vocals alongside ear-grabbing guitar” (readHERE).
“The creative side of the music video is just as important to me as writing the song itself,” Dodds told Billboard. “It was important to me to help create and guide how the song was going to be expressed visually. Most country songs center around the artist as the ‘lead role.’ I knew that I wanted it to be about more than just me.”
Dodds has released several teasers leading up to the official video, introducing actor Pat Long to the world, with more content to come. The rising singer / songwriter penned “I Like Where This Is Going” alongside heavy-hitters Nicolle Galyon and busbee. MusicRow has described it as “warm sounding, with plenty of verve and enthusiasm” and Sounds Like Nashville likewise praised the track, calling it a “smooth standout [that] features a modern blend of pop-country sonics and a thick layer of Dodds’ boy-next-door charm.” All Access says, “Cale Dodds is radio ready” as the single continues to hit country airwaves (listen HERE).
The stage-owning entertainer recently introduced audiences to “I Like Where This Is Going” on Chase Rice’sEyes on You Tour and next month will team up with Rice again for the AM / PM Tour, which includes dates in Nashville (9/27), Chicago (9/28) and Los Angeles (10/27). See below for full list of shows.
The Columbus, GA native has offered fans several tastes of his rock and pop country blend over the past few years in the form of digital singles. He scored his first viral hits with songs like “Lying,” “All Over” and “People Watching” before and after being signed to his first major label deal. In late 2018 he released “What We Gonna Do About It,” an upbeat party-starter that he co-wrote with producer Corey Crowder and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard, followed by his song “Where I Get It From” to close out the year. Touted by Rolling Stone for his “smooth pop-country crooning over arena ready arrangements distinguished by clever lyricism,” Dodds faces the future with a “powerful stage presence, good looks and self-deprecating sense of humor… already proving to have that ‘it’ factor necessary to take this thing to the moon” (Whiskey Riff).
