Shelton, Special Guests Rocked Encore Drive-In Nights Concert Special (7/25)
Country superstar Blake Shelton can be “Happy Anywhere” – but it sure doesn’t hurt when that “anywhere” is at the top of the charts. The hit-maker shot to No. 1 on the iTunes all-genre chart on Friday with the release of his newest single with duet and real-life partner Gwen Stefani (LISTEN HERE), and today the song becomes the week’s most-added at country radio with 119 total stations. With 116 Mediabase stations already on board, “Happy Anywhere” earns the third highest first week add total of any country song in 2020. It debuted Top 20 on the Billboard country airplay chart with more than nine million in audience.
“As I’ve said, ‘Happy Anywhere’ feels like the perfect song for right now,” Shelton said. “I’m proud to see that fans feel the same way about it that Gwen and I do. Thanks everyone for listening to the song, watching the video and coming to the drive-in. Most importantly, thanks for letting me do what I love the most – sing country music.”
Written by Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne and Matt Jenkins, the “joyous duet” (People) is joined by an equally joyous music video (WATCH HERE). The feel-good compilation, directed by Todd Stefani, features footage of the pair as they spend time in their homes in Oklahoma and California. The video premiered on Friday across all MTV and CMT channels beginning at 5:00 am CT and online via YouTube. Shelton also teamed up with (Gwen) Stefani to debut the “upbeat song of contentment” (Rolling Stone) on NBC’s TODAY Summer 2020 Citi Music Series (WATCH HERE).
“Happy Anywhere” is Shelton and Stefani’s fourth collaboration, and it follows the Platinum-certified, multi-week No.1 hit “Nobody But You.” The anthem marks Shelton’s 27th chart-topper, and it has achieved more than 150 million streams to date as well as upwards of 1.3 million track equivalents. “Nobody But You” hailed from his Fully Loaded: God’s Country record, which hit No. 1 on both the Top Country Albums and Country Album Sales charts. The album’s title track also saw massive success as one of the most-streamed country songs released in 2019, currently up for Single, Song and Video of the year at the 55th ACM Awards.
This weekend Shelton ensured that fans everywhere could be “Happy Anywhere” by bringing his live show to nearly 300 outdoor venues across the nation and into Canada on Saturday night (7/25). The event with Encore Drive-In Nights featured cinematic interviews with and all-new performances from the entertainer as well as special guests Stefani and Trace Adkins. Alison Bonaguro of CMT said it best: “The only con, if I was forced to find one, is that the concert didn’t last twice as long.”
