NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (October 31, 2017) – Blake Shelton gave New York City a country music Halloween this morning with a surprise appearance on NBC’s TODAY. The chart-topping recording artist performed his latest hit single “I’ll Name The Dogs” and brand new track “I Lived It” following its world premiere earlier in the day. Written by Nashville songwriting staples Ashley Gorley, Ben Hayslip, Rhett Akinsa and Ross Copperman, the tune closes Shelton’s upcoming album Texoma Shore (due this Friday and available now for pre-order) with a look into the past.
“I feel like ‘I Lived It’ is one of the greatest songs I’ve ever had the chance to record,” said Shelton. “This is something that takes me back to my childhood and I think it’s going to take a lot of people back. As I’ve had the chance to play this album for people early on, that’s the song that really stands out to everybody… it’s hard to listen to without relating to it. It’s hard not to fall in love with this song.”
Shelton kicked off the week on Monday with the announcement of his 2018 headlining “Country Music Freaks Tour” (dates below) and a performance of another new Texoma Shore track, “At The House,” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Watch the clip here – and join Shelton and Fallon as they find out the differences between apples and onions here. The country music superstar shows no signs of stopping. He will hit two more stages this week while on the east coast, Late Night with Seth Meyers tomorrow evening followed by Live With Kelly to celebrate album release day on November 3.
Texoma Shore follows Shelton’s last album, If I’m Honest, which was the best-selling country album released in 2016. That album earned Shelton a number of awards, including Top Country Artist at the Billboard Music Awards in May. Earlier this year he became the first country artist ever to win the all-genre Favorite Album category at the People’s Choice Awards, along with the title for Favorite Male Country Artist.
