Acoustic “Castaway” video premiered Friday with Rolling Stone as part of live “Airwaves Sessions” performance series

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (July 18, 2017) – With a string of six consecutive love-inspired No. 1 singles to his name, it’s clear that Brett Eldredge knows a good love song – and his forthcoming self-titled album, due Aug. 4, takes the familiar subject to new depths. “Castaway” and “Love Someone,” two of the brand new tracks currently available to fans, show off different sides of the hit artist.

“‘Castaway’ is one of the most poetic songs I’ve written,” Eldredge said. “It’s the story of how you go through something for so long on your own and think that you need to continue to chase it, but you get so far away that you’re deserted. You’re a castaway. You figure out the thing you needed the whole time was love. I think more than this being about some certain person, this song is my story, my relationship, my letter to love.”

Co-written by Eldredge and Jordan Reynolds, “Castaway” already boasts two unique videos. Starting with a solo performance at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, Rolling Stone followed up last Friday by premiering a live acoustic version of the track as part of his “Airwaves Sessions” series.

At the opposite end of the track listing, album-opener “Love Someone” offers a different perspective than “Castaway.” He premiered the upbeat song, penned alongside Heather Morgan and his producer Ross Copperman, earlier this summer on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

“It’s about the simplicity of love,” he explained. “You know love is actually, when it comes down to it, a very simple thing. What are those things that you look for most in a companion? It’s someone that keeps you warm at night, that’s always there for you. Somebody that laughs at the way you dance – they think it’s funny but they love you for it. They smile when you’re holding their hand. This is one of those first-listen kind of songs that just makes you smile, makes you feel good, makes you want love if you don’t have it and makes you happy to be in love if you are.”
